Reports to: Manager of Shipping, Receiving and Material Handling

 

Responsibilities:

  • Directs the daily activities of the Shipping Department in conjunction with responsible associates in their goal of shipping customer orders based on customer expectations and requirements
  • Serves as a training resource for Shipping Technician team members
  • Investigates and solves intra-departmental problems that may occur in daily operations
  • Maintains accurate records of necessary data based on record retention requirements
  • Initiates corrective action requests and follows through to completion to ensure resolution
  • Coordinates with appropriate departments on inventory level issues and associated matters
  • Seeks ways to efficiently maximize department output based on department objectives and targets
  • Maintains inter-departmental communications in order to provide transparency and assist in resolving issues
  • Creates an environment within the department that is positive and encourages employee involvement
  • Provides and maintains a safe and clean working environment following prescribed guidelines
  • Supports the implementation, achievement, and maintenance of the Quality and Environmental Policies
  • Authorities for an employee are granted by means of work instructions, policies and procedures and/or direction provided by management to meet the requirements of the customer

Education:

  • High School Education or GED with either two (2) years College

 or

  • 2 years shipping experience

Experience:

  • Two (2) years related work experience preferred

Skills:

  • Ability to exhibit organizational, interpersonal and mathematical skill level sets to successfully meet the requirements and expectations of this position

Other: 

  • Ability to operate appropriate equipment relevant to the shipping process
  • Flexibility to work assigned shifts based on changing business conditions
  • Exhibit appropriate leadership skills to motivate and encourage associate performance
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Familiarity with related software applications, i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint....etc.

 

Work Environment:

This job operates in an office and manufacturing environment, and routinely uses standard office equipment. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

 

Physical Demands:

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee may also be required to work in hot temperatures.
