  1. Description:

The Metrologist 2 is responsible for supervising and conducting daily dimensional inspections / testing on materials and finished goods and reporting the inspection / testing results to the requestor. This position also supervises the Metrologist 1 in non-routine or advanced inspections / testing as required by customers' specifications and/or internal departments.


  1. Responsibilities:
  • Supervises Metrologist 1 in daily tasks
  • Conducts manual/ PCMM inspections and testing on various materials
  • Generates reports, graphs, and charts as needed
  • Report results to internal customers
  • Meets quality and quantity levels of assigned work, housekeeping, and safe work practices
  • Monitors and enforces ISO/TS16949 and ISO14001 policies/procedures
  • Calibration: responsible for coordination of the calibration of all required instruments in a timely manner and documenting the calibration results
  • Retains Gauge R&R data in the Powerway Software database
  • Gauge Repair: responsible for coordinating the repair of registered calibrated instruments located in-house and at vendors
  • Gauge R&R and Capability studies as needed
  • Verify the accuracy of all documentation
    • Support the implementation, achievement, and maintenance of the Quality and Environmental Policies and Procedures
    • Maintain all Metrology Lab personnel training records.


  1. Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED


  1. Experience:
  • Displays level of aptitude required for position


  1. Skills:
  • Above average mathematical skills, written skills, and verbal skills.
  • Computer literate
  • Supervisory skills
  • Must be able to judge color visually and must pass the Farnsworth Munsell Hue test annually.


  1. Training Specific To Position:
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, etc.
  • Capable of using Quality measurement devices and Testing equipment


  1. Other
  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time with limited prior notice.
  • Must be able to work any assigned shift.
